International Mystery Writers' Festival

Bob's first one-act play, "Transcript," was premiered in "special event" tandem with a one-act by Mystery Writers of America Grand Master Stuart Kaminsky at the first International Mystery Writers' Festival at RiverPark Center in Owensboro, KY, six days of staged plays, seminars, signings, and an awards show subsequently broadcast by PBS. Success begats success.

On stage during the awards show, where Bob revealed "Angie" winners in two categories of acting competition. (The award statuette named in honor of entertainment icon Angela Lansbury...)

A sign of the times--signaling one of three performances of "Transcript." All were SRO...
From left: Stuart Kaminsky, Robert S. Levinson, Sue Grafton, members of a fest executive committee that also incuded Ira Levin, Blake Edwards, William Link, James W. Hall and John Jakes, among others, with RiverPark Center President/CEO Zev Buffman. The fest was Zev's brainchild.

Bob with Judy Bobalik, editor of the Private Eye Writers of America newsletter, and Jon Jordan, publisher/editor-in-chief of Crimespree Magazine at one of several special lobby sites set up for author meet-and-greets/book signings...and with Jon's missus, Ruth, the magazine's co-publisher/editor.
William Link (left), who brought his TV creation "Columbo" to the RiverPark Center stage in "Columbo Takes the Rap," and Harry ("Night Court," "Dave's World") Anderson, who performed in several "live radio theater" shows presented as part of RiverPark Center's festival.
A panel discussion about mystery-thriller writers and writing was another special event that filled one of RiverPark Center's theaters. It featured Sue Grafton, James W. Hall, Stuart Kaminsky, and Robert S. Levinson.
