MEN OF MYSTERY - November 5-6, 2005

Bob and Gary Phillips with "Men of Mystery" creator Joan Hansen, who was surprised during this year's (6th annual) event with news that the Mystery Writers of America is honoring her with a Raven Award for her contribution to the genre. Bob made the motion, seconded by Gary, at a recent national board meeting. The Raven will be presented at the Edgar Awards ceremony in '06.
That's Dean Koontz, of course, the special guest of honor among 60 participating authors, who spent hours signing books for some 600 educators, librarians and fans in attendance. (He may still be signing, for all we know...)
Jon Breen (center) and Tom Nolan, routinely celebrated as both authors and reviewers, were there for the umpteenth time.
Ditto Dick Lochte (left) and John Shannon.
Bob mugging for the camera with one of his favorite author guys, Terrill Lee Lankford.
More mugging with Paul Levine, back to turning out novels after two dozen-plus episodes of "Jag."
Author-Fashion Trend-Setter Dave Corbett presents his version of "The Man in Black."
'Fess up...Would you buy a used car (or a bottle of beer) from Gary, Bob, Lee Goldberg or Joe Konrath?...No, really...
Michael Mallory with Kent Braithwaite and Kent's darling daughter, Laura, who scored an exclusive interview wilth Dean Koontz for her high school newspaper.
That's educator Merrie Lyn Shickler, who was Bob's host for the day-long event, and a mighty fine and gracious one was she...(Thanks, again, Merrie Lyn...)
